Grief Counselling – Gentle Support Through Loss
Finding Hope After Bereavement
Grief is one of life’s hardest experiences. Whether you’re mourning the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or another major change, loss can leave you feeling lost, anxious, or unsure how to move forward.
While grief is a natural part of being human, it can also be painful and isolating. You don’t have to face it alone. Bereavement counselling offers a safe, compassionate space to explore your emotions and begin to heal in your own time and way.
My Approach
Having worked for a major bereavement charity and within a local hospice, I’ve supported many people through the complex emotions that follow loss. My approach is calm, person-centred, and grounded in empathy — giving you space to share your story and begin to find balance again.
There’s no “right” way to grieve. Counselling helps you make sense of your emotions, build coping strategies, and rediscover moments of connection and peace.
Understanding Grief
Grief isn’t linear — it changes and shifts over time. In counselling, we might draw on different grief models that offer perspective and hope:
Tonkin’s Model of Growing Around Grief shows how life slowly expands around your loss rather than replacing it.
The Waterfall of Grief reflects how loss can feel turbulent at first, then gradually settle into calmer waters.
The Dual Process Model (Stroebe & Schut) highlights the importance of moving between focusing on your loss and adapting to life beyond it.
These models remind us that grief is not something to “get over,” but something we learn to live alongside with compassion and strength.
A Compassionate Space to Heal
Through bereavement counselling, you can talk freely about your feelings, develop ways to cope, and begin to rebuild your sense of self. Over time, you may find new meaning, connection, and moments of hope.
Having worked in hospice and charity settings, I believe healing after bereavement isn’t about letting go it’s about learning to carry your loss differently. My aim is to offer a calm, supportive space where you can honour your grief and gently move towards healing.
